There comes a time when the laurels we Filmmakers so covet and love to adorn our posters with become ...dare I say... a nuisance??? Occassionally a film arrives on the scene that creates that kind of a situation by sweeping up countless wins (not just official selections) and Strength and Honour is just such a film. Mark Mahon, the filmmaker, is spotlighted here to inspire other filmmakers to believe in a dream...a man once told he'd never walk again who not only proved the medical

profession wrong, but who is now also proving himself as a Hollywood player with his heart-felt story of a fomer boxer forced to re-enter the ring to pay for his son's medical procedure. To add to the swag of awards from all over the country, STRENGTH AND HONOUR has most recently received five more nominations from the upcoming New York Independent Film Festival... Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor for Michael Madsen, Best Cinematography and Best Score.

THE XRISTOS AWARD AT AOF

THE XRISTOS AWARD

A NEW AWARD FOR UPCOMING GUERILLA FILMMAKERS was created and awarded this week at the annual ACTION ON FILM, INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL through the joint efforts of Xristos Productions and Sony Creative Services. The winner, John and Richard Chance for "The Day I Tried To Live", received a SONY Vegas 8 dvd editing software package including DVD Architect with BLUERAY authoring, a CINESCORE music composer package, and a copy of the book A GUERILLA IN THE MIDST (The art of no budget filmmaking).

Xristos Georgiadis, (Stan Harrington's father) who the award was named after was a working class man who's incredible creative and artistic gifts were never made public for the world to embrace. In honor of his name and with the added support of The Stella Adler Studio, next years award will be even more lucrative. Together with a SONY Package the winner will also receive a semester class with the renowned instructor, Ron Burrus. The Adler Studio is of course famous for it's star studded alum that includes, Marlon Brando, Robert De Niro, Harvey Keitel, Mark Ruffalo, Benicio Del Toro and countless others.

‘The Day I Tried To Live’ Synopsis

A space pod crashes from the sky and a body washes up on a Spanish shore line, so begins a tale of one man’s journey of discovery. The sea is hostile, the place a paradise, and the people are strange. Far from ordinary he experiences happiness, woes and alienation in his time here. Unfortunately he did not come alone; ghosts of past, fears haunt his every step. A tangible hope and search to find another of his kind turns to desperation as the fading sun quickly descends.As the sunsets the man had lived a lifetime in a day.This can be seen as a straightforward story and a parable.

Action On Film is held every July at the prestigious Laemmle Theaters in gorgeous Old Town Pasedena and always boasts a swag of films that range in budget anywhere from $20 to $20 million. The XRISTOS AWARD will add to and continue the AOF tradition of leveling the playing field and shinning a light on unknown talent regardless of their budget.

KERBEROS...Exciting new Guerilla Film!

IGFdb is pleased to present Kerberos...an independent action movie being shot on the Sony PMW- EX1 High Definition cameras and processed with Digital Film Design's Film Emulation.

Watch out for this film guys. It is written and directed by the talented guerilla filmmaker, William Kely McClung of BLOOD TIES and AM SESSION, the award nominated short film (HBO Short Film Award) and now playing on HBO.

Part of the current cast of 56 roles includes Kely McClung, Robert Pralgo, Stan Harrington, Ted Huckabee, Courtney Hogan, Whitney Sullins, Vince Canlas and Mark Harris.

Shot on location throughout South Georgia including Atlanta, Conyers, Rome, and Macon.

Kerberos is a testament to how you can make 40,000 look like 40 millon!!! It is both in production and active post-production and is scheduled for release by December 2008.

NEW DOCUMENTARY FOR FILMMAKERS!!!

Hi guys...just a brief intro to my new documentary for filmmakers.

If you are interested in getting a name actor for your films then this is the documentary that will give you insight into what it takes to get them, if they will do it, how to go about it, and the do's and don't of the approach.

In an effort to give it to you straight from the artist, I have compiled feature interviews with EMMY* Winner, Holland Taylor (2 and a Half Men), John Saxon (Enter The Dragon), Paula Jai Parker (Hustle and Flow) and Doug Hutchison (The Green Mile) to mention a few...you will also see footage of JERSEY BOY, Frankie Valli, and UFC Champ, Randy Couture.

To bring the documentary full circle, you will also follow me on a quest to get Michael Madsen for an interview for this project.

Topic: Stan Harrington will discuss his latest novel A Guerilla In The Midst, an exploration into the art of the no-budget film.

From his artistic home at THE STELLA ADLER THEATRE, Stan Harrington has been a prolific producer of theatre since 1996. Specializing in guerilla theatre, he has produced, directed, written and acted in many critically acclaimed and award winning plays. In 2003 he created ADLER AFTER DARK, a platform which offers writers an opportunity to present their shows rent free.

In 2005, Stan’s first guerilla feature film, Bred In The Bone, shot for a mere $5,000, was named the GRAND PRIZE WINNER, at the ACTION ON FILM, INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL held at the Long Beach Convention Centre in California. As well as BEST IN SHOW, Bred In The Bone also won BEST SCREENPLAY, Stan Harrington, and BEST ACTRESS, Blythe Metz.In October he also garnered the Best Feature award at FAIF international Film Fest, and in April 2006 was an invited speaker at the NAB Conference in Las Vegas , the largest electronics show in the world. His latest film The Craving Heart, which he shot for $8,000, is currently on the festival circuit and his book A Guerilla In The Midst.

A Guerilla In The Midst is an exploration into the art of the no-budget film. From multi-award winning guerilla filmmaker, Stan Harrington, the book is an inspirational and insightful book that uses Harrington's first feature, Bred in the Bone, as a blueprint. ACTION ON FILM AT THE LAEMMLE FOR 2008!

The star studded Action On Film International Film Festival has officially announced that it will be held in historic Old Pasadena in 2008. The international festival which began in 2005 has played host to some of the biggest stars in Hollywood and has been a vital component in launching a number of film careers. Festival Director, Josh Neufeld said, ‘This is absolutely incredible as Pasadena is a fantastic landmark city and it deserves a festival like the AOF.’ Neufeld went on to say, ‘I personally love the Laemmele theaters and they offer a fantastic movie going experience, our audiences are in for a real treat.’

With the signing of an agreement with the Laemmle Theater Chain, the AOF Fest will move to the One Colorado Blvd theater location and will extend from a three day festival to a full on six day international film festival. The event will be held on July 25-31, 2008.

Previous winners and attendees of the festival have included, David Carradine of Kill Bill fame, D.B. Sweeney, Nick Mancuso, Chad Everett, Russell Wong, John Saxon, Frances Bay, Costas Mandylor and many others. Festival creator, Del Weston said, ‘A city like Pasadena is the perfect place for a show like ours. It’s a perfect fit.’

With a competitive schedule and vast array of films from all over the world, the AOF Festival has something for every taste. Actor Steven Williams of X-Files fame said, ‘This is an incredible festival with fantastic people, as far as I’m concerned, other festivals at best will be running a close second to the AOF…’

The Action On Film Festival which has been running for the last three years in Long Beach will now make Pasadena its new home. The new event location is The Laemmle Theater One Colorado 42 Miller Alley Old Pasadena, 91103. The event will run from July 25-31, 2008.
