Hi Kely...congratulations on your success!!! I received your email on myspace and wanted to answer your question on the forum for others to have the benefit of the info also...contacting me is easy...on top of this page, just hit the contact tab and you can email me...with regards to haow to go about getting an audience, well, that's a tough job...you really have to swallow your pride and annoy all your friends and aquaintances and constantly remind them all the way up to the point of the screening...you can always count on a third or so not turning up so never stiop asking even if you think you have filled a house...believe me, no amount of advertising or flyer distribution will get you more than a sprinkle of people. Particularily in California, there are many, many festivals...there are thousands of actors and all are doing something whether it be a movie or a play...getting people to come to a festival or a play is so hard because everyone seems to get those requests on a weekly or a daily basis...it becomes annoying even to many people...also, for less outlay, they can go to the movies and see a $100 million dollar movie. This is not to discourage you, this is to train you to be realistic and realize that to get an audience you must do all the promotional stuff, but more importantly you must becaome that pest that never gives in trying to get your friends and acquaintances to come...as you build a reputation (as you alreasy are) a buzz will slowly bring in a dribbling of others, like through the festival or other forums , but the bulk of your audience will always be what YOU bring in...Don't be discouraged...work hard...you can get them to come...there is no excuse when you are in your own home town...
Good Luck...I hope to see your film at INDIEFEST...I have 2 films in there myself...Everyone's a Victor, and El Percanse Perfecto...See...you already have your first person!!! Maybe you'll come to mine too...that's how it works...
Cheers, congratuilations and good luck Kely, Stan The Man stan harrington
